Tails in the Wind : Calgary, May 1, 2027
Tails in the Wind takes place at North Glenmore Parking Lot P, North Glenmore Park Road, Calgary. The event offers a one mile race and a new 5K distance; both routes have been wheel measured for accurate distance.
Separate divisions are provided to manage shared use of the park path: dog divisions and human only divisions. Staggered wave starts will be used to space participants on the course.
Distances offered:
- 1 mile point to point, net downhill, start near Snowy Owl Picnic Area and finish near Bluebird Picnic Area.
- 5K loop course, start and finish near Bluebird Picnic Area.
Dog rules include a standard leash maximum of 6 feet, no retractable leashes, one dog per registered human, up to date vaccinations, and comfort in crowded environments. Participants are responsible for picking up after their pets; extra bags and bins will be provided.
Check in and bib pick up occur at the tent in Bluebird Picnic Area. Hand timing will be used for some waves and results are provided to the tenth of a second in specified divisions. Post race offerings include finish line photos, a bubble machine, human snacks, and a doggy buffet with treats, peanut butter, and water.
The event partners with the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society AARCS; a portion of registration fees supports the organization and the fundraising goal is CA$1,000. The event is powered by Tempered Sports. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
