About the race
The Tacos & Tequila 5k is the 5th annual event happening on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at CoolRay Field in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The event includes a 5k race and a virtual 5k option. It supports the Lawrenceville Co-Op, which feeds over 350 families per week.
Registration includes a T-shirt (if registered before the cutoff date of April 12, 2026), a custom finisher's medal, two tacos, chips with salsa, and one margarita (or lemonade for participants under 21 years old). Participants also receive a souvenir sombrero upon finishing. Packet pickup is available on Friday, May 1, at Big Peach Running in Suwanee from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and on race day starting at 9:30 AM at the venue. The race start time is 11:00 AM at the main entrance of the Gwinnett Stripers stadium, with festivities continuing until 2:00 PM.
Awards are given for the top three overall male and female finishers, top three masters finishers, and top three in various age groups from 1-10 to 70+. Additional awards are presented for best costume, best dog costume, best Mexican grito scream, and largest team. The event features music, multiple taco vendors, and a post-race fiesta. Participants aged 21 and over must wear a drink band to receive their margarita.
