About the race
The Symonds Yat Super Looper is a solo six hour trail running event at Symonds Yat on Saturday 13 March 2027. Participants attempt to complete as many loops of a 5.25 km course as possible within the six hour limit.
Each loop features about 160 m of ascent. The route trends downhill for roughly 1.5 km, includes a short sharp uphill section, a flat section by the River Wye, and a steep climb with over 100 steps that finishes at the Symonds Yat viewpoint and trig point. Runners must visit the trig point before descending back onto the loop.
The event uses a mass start. Runners must sign in at the aid station at the Symonds Yat car park / HQ after each loop; electronic timing is used but manual sign-in is required. The course is technical and appropriate footwear is recommended. Pacers are not allowed. Support teams are permitted and may use the HQ car park. The route passes a cafe, toilets, checkpoints, and support vehicles.
Medal thresholds and equivalent distances:
- 6 loops = 31.5 km and 960 m ascent, Finishers medal
- 9 loops = 47.25 km and 1440 m ascent, Ultra medal
- 12 loops = 63 km and 1920 m ascent, Heroes medal
