Sydney Ultra Marathons
The Sydney Ultra Marathons (SUM) take place in the bushland surrounding Sydney, utilizing trails within Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Garigal National Park, and Manly Dam Reserve. All race distances start and finish at the St Ives Showground on the Upper North Shore, which is approximately a 27-minute drive from the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The event offers three distinct distance options:
- 30 km: A single-loop course with 976 meters of elevation gain and loss.
- 50 km: A single-loop course featuring 1,572 meters of elevation gain and loss.
- 100 km: A long-distance route with 2,914 meters of elevation gain and loss.
Participants are required to carry mandatory gear at all times, with random checks conducted before entering the starting corral. The courses are marked with signage, trail flags, and marshals at key intersections. Fully stocked aid stations are located at regular intervals across all distances.
Entry fees include a premium event shirt, free race photography, and a finisher's medal. Participants can access free parking at the St Ives Showground for the duration of the event. Results are uploaded for ITRA and UTMB indexing. The event has specific registration capacities for each distance to manage trail density, and pacers are not permitted.
