The Sy-5K takes place on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Rose Rudman Park, 450 Shiloh Rd., Tyler, Texas. The event has a science fiction theme and offers multiple participation options: 5K and 2 Mile are the primary distances. The program also includes a Kid's Dash and a Virtual Option.

Entry options and fees listed by the organizer include the following: 5K ($35; price increases after January 9), 2 Mile ($18; price increases after January 9), Kid's Dash (free), and Virtual Option ($40). Registration deadlines for some options run through January 17, 2026. Event registration includes an event-themed participation shirt and an event finisher medal for the 5K and 2 Mile; participants who register by January 3 are guaranteed shirt sizing.
The Kid's Dash is a short 100–200 meter sprint; dashers run free and may purchase a shirt or finisher medal as an add-on. The 2 Mile option is an untimed event and does not offer age group awards; milers still receive a finisher medal and a participation shirt. Age group awards for the 5K are given four deep in male and female divisions from 0-4 through 80+. Separate overall medals are awarded for overall and masters/grand masters categories. Awards are distributed at the event and will not be shipped.
The event supports local charities; the organizer donates a portion of profits and all donations to Encounter Church (Fate). Volunteers receive a code for a free race entry as a thank-you. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
