Swiss Valley Trail Races
The Swiss Valley Trail Races take place at Swiss Valley Nature Preserve near Peosta, Iowa. The event offers three distance options presented as looped trail races:
- 5.2 miles
- 25k (three loops)
- 50k (six loops)
The course is an approximate 5.2 mile loop with about 875 feet of climb per loop. Trail features include creek crossings, steep inclines, and rugged terrain typical of the Dubuque County landscape.
Race facilities and logistics are organized around the Swiss Valley area. The start and finish are at the Swiss Valley Nature Center, with parking, free tent camping, and showers at Swiss Valley Park and Campground located nearby. Free shuttles run between the parking/campground area and the start/finish. Packet pickup is available at Dimensional Brewing Company in downtown Dubuque on the Friday before the race from 5pm to 7pm, and there is race day packet pickup at the Swiss Valley Nature Center beginning at 6:30am.
The event is part of the No Coast Trail Series. All proceeds benefit the Friends of Dubuque County Conservation, which supports county parks and environmental education. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
