Sweet Ride

Sweet Ride is a multi-discipline cycling and running event in Willow Springs along the Des Plaines River on the John Husar I.M. Canal Yellow Trail near Willow Springs & Archer Ave. The program includes bike rides and a short run/walk.

Distances:

  • 5K run/walk
  • 40K bike ride
  • 65K bike ride

The 65K route includes about 25K of crushed gravel trail, approximately 15 miles. The 40K route is fully paved. Helmets are required for all cyclists for the entire ride. Except for passing, participants should remain on the right side of the trail.

On-course support includes water jugs at the 40K turnaround at Centennial Trail Schneider's Passage (approximately mile 12.5) and a refill near mile 30 of the 65K route. Participants must bring their own water bottle to refill. Water for 5K participants is available at the start and finish, with personal bottles required.

Online registration closes in early October. Listed entry fees are $30 for the 5K and $50 for each bike distance. Check-in takes place on the morning of the event in the parking lot. T-shirt sizing is guaranteed for registrations before September 10; afterward shirts are first-come first-served and are unisex.

A post-event gathering is planned at Imperial Oak Brewing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
