About the race
The Sweater Weather 10K & 5K is a trail running event on Saturday, October 2, 2027, at the Canmore Nordic Centre Stadium (behind the Main Lodge, 1988 Olympic Way, Canmore, Alberta). The event offers two timed distances:
- 5K on double-track dirt trails through pine forest.
- 10K on double-track dirt trails with mountain elevation.
Courses run on mountain forest trails with noticeable elevation; sections can be walked and there is a 2.5 hour course cutoff. Race package pickup is available Friday, October 1, and on Saturday morning at the stadium. Registration closes at midnight on September 25, 2027, or earlier if the event sells out.
Safety and logistics: bear spray is required for all runners aged 18 and older and will be checked at the start; for runners under 18 the decision is at the guardian’s discretion. Strollers are not permitted on course. Headphones are not allowed. Leashed dogs may attend as spectators but are not permitted on the course. Parking is available at the Canmore Nordic Centre; a Kananaskis Conservation Pass is required.
Support and services: an on-course aid station will provide Precision Fuel & Hydration electrolytes and water. First aid staff and volunteers will be present along the route. Finish-line refreshments include pie from JK Bakery and warm drinks. Every registered runner receives event swag and there is an optional finish medal.
