Swanzey Covered Bridges Half Marathon, Elijah's Race
The Swanzey Covered Bridges Half Marathon, Elijah's Race, is an annual road race held in Swanzey, New Hampshire. The event raises funds to support the students of Monadnock Regional Middle High School.
The race course rises between 300 and 400 feet in elevation over the distance and passes through several historic covered bridges named Thompson, Carlton and Cresson, most of which date to the pre Civil War era. The route features views and scenery characteristic of rural New England.
Race amenities include a guaranteed T shirt for participants who register by August 15, a custom participation medal for all runners, access to school locker rooms at the start and finish, and a couple of porta potties along the course. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three finishers, and a post race barbecue and raffles are part of the event.
