Swanzey Covered Bridges Half-Marathon, Elijah's Race
The Swanzey Covered Bridges Half-Marathon, Elijah's Race is a road half-marathon held in Swanzey, New Hampshire. The event for 2026 is scheduled for September 6, 2026 and takes runners through the local landscape and historic covered bridges.
The course rises between 300 and 400 feet in elevation over the length of the race and passes through covered bridges with names such as Thompson, Carlton and Cresson, most of which date to the pre Civil War era. The route offers views and scenery that reflect the local New England setting.
The event is held annually in memory of its founder and was organized to raise funds to support the students of Monadnock Regional Middle High School. The founder had attended and later coached runners at the school.
Race amenities include a guaranteed T shirt for participants who register by August 15, a custom participation medal for all runners, access to school locker rooms at the start and finish, and a limited number of porta potties along the course.
