Swansea Triathlon : Sprint
The Swansea Triathlon sprint takes place around the city centre waterfront and includes a swim in the dock, a closed-road bike section, and a run along the waterfront. The advertised sprint distances are 750 m swim, 20 km bike and 5 km run.
The bike leg is run as three laps of a marshalled and signed circuit; signage uses a black arrow on a fluorescent background. The event is non-drafting and riders are asked to keep to the left unless overtaking. At the turn point near Morgan's Hotel competitors should stay to the right unless returning to transition; after completing three laps they keep left to head back to transition.
Organisers note that every effort is made to keep the course clear of vehicles but this cannot be guaranteed. Blue light incidents on course take priority. Participants are asked to ride within their ability, be courteous to members of the public who may cross the road, and communicate when overtaking. Dangerous riding or abusive language can lead to disqualification.
