2026 Surf n' Turf
Surf n' Turf is the 33rd annual five leg cross-country fitness challenge taking place in the Trenton and Quinte West area on June 18, 2026. The course spans CFB Trenton and nearby locations including Baker's Island, Bain Park and the RecPlex, and finishes at Baker's Island.
The event covers more than 25 km of terrain and comprises the following legs:
- Leg 1: Base Run, 6 km, Baker's Island to canoe staging area
- Leg 2: Canoe/Kayak, 4 km, staging area to Bain Park
- Leg 3: Road Bike, 15 km, Bain Park to the RecPlex
- Leg 4: Pool Swim, 500 m, outdoor pool at the RecPlex
- Leg 5: Sprint Run, 3.5 km, finish Baker's Island
Participants may enter as single competitors ("Tin-person"), two person pairs ("Tinmate") or teams of three to six members. Categories include men's and women's for singles, open/mixed and single gender classes for pairs, and mixed/open for teams. Teams must be at least 50% Canadian Armed Forces members to qualify for CAF registration pricing. Medals are awarded to top overall finishers.
Safety and competition rules are specified: life jackets are mandatory on the canoe/kayak leg, helmets are required on the bike leg, no diving is allowed in the pool, support vehicles and on-course pacers are not permitted, and participants must obey traffic laws. Canoe and kayak reservations are restricted to military members and DND civilian employees. Captains meetings are required for team captains and Tin-person competitors.
