2026 Surf n' Turf
The 33rd Annual Surf n' Turf is a five-leg cross-country relay held in Trenton and the Quinte area on June 18, 2026. The event combines running, canoeing or kayaking, road cycling and a pool swim, concluding with a final running sprint.
Entry categories include single competitors (Tinperson), pairs (Tinmate) and teams of three to six members. The course covers more than 25 km across terrain near CFB Trenton and surrounding areas. Medals are awarded to overall top finishers. The race is noted as being open to the general public while taking place on and around military property.
Stage distances:
- 6 km base run from Baker's Island Community Centre to the canoe/kayak staging area
- 4 km canoe or kayak to Bain Park
- 15 km road bike from Bain Park to the RecPlex
- 500 m outdoor pool swim at the RecPlex
- 3.5 km sprint run finishing at Baker's Island
The event includes detailed safety and conduct rules. Life jackets are required on the water leg and helmets are required for cycling. Pool rules prohibit shoes and diving and allow goggles but no wetsuits or flotation aids. Bibs must be visible except for swimmers. Course officials and medical staff may remove or disqualify participants for safety reasons. Canoe and kayak reservations are limited to military members and DND civilian employees.
