Surf City Run
The Surf City Run is a 5K held in Huntington Beach on the 4th of July as part of the annual Independence Day Event. The course follows the historic route along Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway, runs along the parade route, passes the pier and the Pacific Ocean, and returns with a gentle slope to Worthy Park for the finish.
The run is accompanied by an expo and is one element of a larger community celebration that includes the parade, a home decorating contest, and fireworks over the ocean. The Independence Day Event has long-standing community support and in 2024 is identified as the 122nd edition. Organizers accept donations that go directly to the Independence Day Event, including the Surf City 5K, the parade, and the fireworks.
