About the race
The Super Santa 5K Walk/Run/Wheel is a community 5 kilometre timed event held in Amherstburg, Ontario, supporting conservation projects in the Essex Region. The event uses expert timing and results provided by W.R.A.C.E and includes one water station on course and post-race refreshments. River Lights Winter Festival activities in Navy Yard Park follow the event and include tree lightings and fireworks. Participants choose from walking, running, or wheeling categories.
“Wheel” refers to mobility aids such as wheelchairs (racing and leisure styles), mobility scooters, and walkers; it does not include bicycles or rollerblades. Support persons receive complimentary entry. Children in strollers are not chip timed and are not charged. All registered participants receive a full Santa suit (jacket, pants, hat, beard and belt) to keep.
Returning participants who already have their suit receive a discount on entry. Team registrations are available; teams of ten or more receive a per-person discount. The course starts in downtown Amherstburg in front of 52 Richmond Street and follows Dalhousie Street past Toddy Jones Park and Fort Malden National Historic Park, then along the waterfront and a turnaround loop at Dalhousie Street and Lowes Side Road. Fundraising incentives include free registration for the next year for participants who raise CA$200 and additional prizes for higher fundraising levels. Registration categories show adult and youth pricing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
