Sunbeams 5K
Sunbeams 5K is a fundraising walk, jog, and run organized by Sunbeams Uganda to support the charity's work in Kijjude, Uganda. The event takes place on Saturday, September 19 at Three Oaks Recreation Area, Pavilion A in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The route is a single lap around the lake and the distance is 5K.
The event is family friendly and stroller friendly; dogs are not permitted due to participant allergies. Registration fees are stated as $35 for adults and $25 for children ages 5 to 12. Registration includes an event T-shirt while supplies last, and registering by September 1 guarantees a shirt size. There is a $5 parking fee at Three Oaks for non-residents.
All registration fees, sponsorships, and donations are directed to Sunbeams Uganda, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Funds support education, housing, nourishment, and community projects in Uganda, including construction of a new cafeteria and a chapel. Sponsorship levels are offered at multiple amounts and sponsors are recognized at the event and on event materials.
