Sunbeams 5K Walk Jog Run
The Sunbeams 5K is a community fundraising walk, jog, and run held at Three Oaks Recreation Area, Pavilion A in Crystal Lake, Illinois, on Saturday, September 19. The course is one lap around the Three Oaks path and covers 5K (3.1 miles).
The event raises funds for Sunbeams Uganda, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on education, housing, nourishment, and community development in Kijjude, Uganda. Current projects supported by the event include construction of a new cafeteria and a chapel, along with ongoing programs such as the primary school, teacher housing, and local job-creating projects like a sewing school and a barber shop. All registration fees, sponsorships, and donations are given directly to Sunbeams Uganda.
Registration options include adult and child fees; registration includes an event T-shirt while supplies last. There is a $5 parking fee at Three Oaks for non-residents. The event is family friendly and stroller friendly; dogs are not permitted due to participant allergies. Refreshments and water are provided, and day-of registration and check-in take place at Pavilion A. Sponsors are offered tiered recognition at the event and on event materials, with levels ranging from community support to larger vision sponsorships.
