Summit Run 5K

The Summit Run 5K is a road race that finishes at the summit of Mount Holyoke in Hadley, Massachusetts. The event takes place on September 20, 2026, at 133 Hockanum Road and is open to runners and walkers. It is part of the Sugarloaf Mountain Athletic Club race series and is endorsed by the New England 65 Plus Runners Club. The race has been held for over forty years.

The final mile includes an 800 foot climb on a paved road to the summit finish line atop Mount Holyoke.

Logistics and services include a water stop at the halfway point, refreshments at the finish area, free race photos, and instant results provided by Rat Race Timing. Early registrants who register by August 31st receive a custom tech shirt. Discounts include a senior rate for age 65 and older and a member discount for SMAC members; Race Roster adds processing fees. A portion of race proceeds supports Kestrel Land Trust.

Awards are presented at the summit finish line after the race. Cash prizes are awarded to first overall male and female finishers, and awards are given to age group winners. Age group divisions run from Under 9 through 50-59 and 60-64, with five year age groups for 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80-84 and up. Atkins Apple Pies are provided for overall and age group winners.
