Summer Trail Classic
The Summer Trail Classic is a trail running event at Paul Douglas Preserve in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, held on August 23, 2026. It is the third of four races in the 2026 Dick Pond Athletics Darn Tough Trail Race Series and lists Dick Pond Athletics, Mount to Coast, and Darn Tough as sponsors. The event benefits the Chicago Area Mountain Bikers (CAMBr), a volunteer organization that builds, maintains, and promotes multi-use natural surface singletrack and freeride trail opportunities in the Chicago area.
Distances offered:
- Approx 4 miles
- Approx 9.5 miles
- Approx 13 miles
The course uses single-track trails at Paul Douglas Forest Preserve. Walking-only participants are permitted only in the 4 mile distance. Organizers note strict preserve trail rules: trails are closed when wet and the course may be moved to the preserve's asphalt bike path if conditions make the single-track unusable; participants will be notified in advance if the route changes.
Safety and race protocol include calling out "on your left" when passing, assisting injured participants, and a prohibition on fully over-ear headphones or two earbuds/pods; at least one ear must be unobstructed. The event provides three water stations but recommends participants carry their own fluids and nourishment.
Registered participants receive a Leslie Jordan running vest; sizes cannot be exchanged. Awards include an engraved wood award for overall winners, age-group awards, and an automatic raffle entry for entrants; raffle winners must be present to claim prizes. Official finish results are available via the QR code on race bibs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
