Event overview
The Summer Splash 5k takes place on August 1, 2026 at Badger Mountain Community Park, 350 Keene Road, Richland, WA. The event includes these distances:
- 5k (3.1 miles)
- Kids Splash Dash (0.5 mile)
The Kids Splash Dash is free and open to children 10 and under. Children 12 and under may register free for the 5k when a parent is a paid registrant (organizers provide a discount code after the parent registers). All participants must sign a waiver and minors require a parent or guardian signature.
Course and logistics
The 5k uses the Keene Road Trail on a 12-ft wide paved out-and-back route starting at the park splash pad and turning around where the trail crosses Bellerive Road. The course will be marked with chalk and cones. There are three road crossings at Elementary St, Leslie Rd, and Venus Cir; volunteers will assist as crossing guards, but participants are responsible for obeying crosswalk laws and waiting for safe crossings.
The Kids Splash Dash stays inside Badger Mountain Community Park and follows the paved loop around the fields and splash pad. Water and snacks will be available at the finish area. The park also includes grass fields, a playground, and a splash pad.
Registration, timing and awards
The 5k will be timed and results posted online. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers overall and in each age group: 0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. The kids run is not timed and all finishers receive a ribbon. Course records listed are Male 15:38 (2023) and Female 22:01 (2025). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
