Summer Splash 5K
The Summer Splash 5K is an athletic event held at Badger Mountain Community Park in Richland, Washington. The event features two distinct distances:
- 5 km (3.1 miles)
- 1/2 mile (Kids Splash Dash)
The 5 km course is an out-and-back route that follows the Keene Road Trail. Participants run on a 12-foot wide paved path, heading east from the park and turning around at Bellerive Road. The path involves three road crossings at Elementary Street, Leslie Road, and Venus Circle. These crossings are managed by volunteers acting as crossing guards, and the course is marked with chalk and cones. This race is timed, and results are published online. Awards are given to the top male and female finishers, with medals provided for the top three finishers in several age categories spanning from under 9 to over 70.
The Kids Splash Dash is a non-timed half-mile fun run or walk specifically for children aged 10 and younger. The course follows a paved loop within the Badger Mountain Community Park, circling the athletic fields and the on-site splash pad. All finishers of this distance receive a ribbon.
Water and snacks are provided at the finish line located in the park. The venue includes a playground and a splash pad. Participants under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
