The Summer Splash 5k takes place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in Richland, WA at Badger Mountain Community Park (350 Keene Road). The event includes a 5k race and a 0.5 mile Kids Splash Dash for children 10 and under. All participants must sign a waiver; participants under 18 require a parent signature. Registration opens January 1, 2026.
Course and facilities
The 5k follows the Keene Road Trail in an out-and-back format, starting at the Badger Mountain Park splash pad and turning around where the 12-foot-wide paved trail crosses Bellerive Road. The course will be marked with chalk and cones. There are three road crossings at Elementary St, Leslie Rd, and Venus Cir; traffic control volunteers will assist, but participants are responsible for using the crosswalks and obeying applicable laws. The Kids Splash Dash stays within Badger Mountain Community Park and follows the paved loop around the fields and splash pad. The park includes large grass fields, a playground, and a splash pad. Water and snacks will be available at the finish area.
Registration, timing and awards
5k entry fees are tiered: $20 (until May 31), $30 (until July 31), and $35 on race day. Children 12 and under are free with a paid parent (organizers provide a discount code on request). The 5k will be timed and results posted online. An award will be presented to the top female and male finisher; medals will be given to the top three female and male finishers in each age group (0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+). All Kids Splash Dash finishers receive a ribbon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
