Event overview
The Summer Sizzler is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Beaver Island State Park in Grand Island, NY. The event program includes multiple race types: Formula 1 Triathlon, Sprint Triathlon, Aquabike (short), and Duathlon. Relay entries are allowed for some events. Recommended minimum ages are given for each event.
Distances
- Formula 1 Triathlon: 400 m swim, 11 mile bike, 1.8 mile run, 400 m swim, 17.7 km bike, 1.8 mile run
- Sprint Triathlon: 400 m swim, 11 mile bike, 1.8 mile run
- Aquabike: 400 m swim, 11 mile bike
- Duathlon: 3 km run, 11 mile bike, 1.8 mile run
Courses and race format
The swim takes place in the Niagara River with a beach start in a time trial format. Athletes line up in numeric order and enter the water two or three at a time after crossing the timing mats. Course layouts are the same for all events except for the Formula 1 second swim. Maps are provided for swim, bike, and run courses.
Registration, packet pickup and policies
Packet pickup occurs at Beaver Island State Park on the Friday before the race and on race day. All athletes must collect their own packets; all relay members must be present to pick up a team packet. In-person registration requires a photo ID and proof of USAT membership or purchase of a membership. Refunds are only available through optional registration insurance. Deferrals and event transfers are allowed under the race policies, with fees that may apply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
