Summer Shores 5K/8K
The event offers runs and walks starting and finishing at Hutches on the Beach near Barrangas in Hamilton, Ontario. Available distances include:
- 1 km run/walk
- 5 km run/walk
- 8 km run
There are both in-person and virtual participation options. The 1 km event supports Community Living Grimsby, with proceeds from that distance directed to the charity. Donations can be added during registration and tax receipts are issued for donations of $20 or more. Non-perishable food donations will also be collected for Hamilton Food Share.
Registration fees vary by event and time period. A $10 age discount applies to youths aged 16 and under and seniors aged 65 and over. Participants receive a race kit with a bib and additional items such as a phone lanyard and a key tag, and finishers receive medals. Strollers are permitted with the request that stroller users start at the back of the corral; dogs are not allowed.
Race kits must be picked up before lining up; there is an option to have someone collect a kit on a participant's behalf and a race-day pickup is available. If the in-person event is cancelled for extreme conditions, registrants will be moved to the virtual race and refunds of the price difference will not be issued.
