Event Overview
The Suckley Quarter Marathon returns for its fourth edition, held at The Hop Shed Brewery & Tap Room in Suckley. This multi-terrain running event uses a variety of trails, tracks, footpaths, and roads through the village of Suckley and Longley Green. The main race is a 10.55 km (6.5 miles) course, consisting of approximately a 50/50 split between road and trail sections.
Participants can choose from the following distances and categories:
- 10.55 km Quarter Marathon (open to ages 16 and over)
- 2.25 km Junior Race (ages 12-15)
- 2.25 km Junior Race (ages 8-11)
- 2 km Fun Run (suitable for ages 4 and above)
The 10.55 km route is fully marshalled and signposted, though roads remain open to traffic during the event. A water station is located at the halfway point. The junior and fun run courses take place in enclosed fields on undulating trails and paths.
Adult entry includes chip timing, a finisher's medal, water, and cake. Junior entries include chip timing, a medal, and sweets. The fun run provides medals and sweets for all participants with a race number. Food and beverages are available for purchase at the venue, and all profits from the event are donated to local charities within the community.
Prizes
Trophies are awarded to the first, second, and third-place male and female finishers in the Quarter Marathon. Additional trophies are presented to the first local male and female residents of Suckley Parish. In the junior categories, trophies are awarded to the top three finishers in each age group at the finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
