Race #3 Sturt Gorge
This trail running event takes place at Sturt Gorge Recreation Park in Craigburn Farm SA, Australia, and is scheduled for 2 August 2026. The course follows winding single-track through woodland slopes and bushland, includes sections of boulder scrambling and creek lines, and features creek crossings that can result in wet feet. After heavy rain, waterfalls may appear along Magpie Gully.
Wildlife is commonly seen on the route; koalas, grazing kangaroos and digging echidnas are mentioned. The area was originally inhabited and cared for by the Kaurna people. Course routes and maps may be updated and are subject to change.
There are multiple distance options:
- Long - 21 km, 606 m
- Medium - 15 km, 413 m
- Short - 9 km, 234 m
- Kids X-country - 1 km
The long course is listed as a UTMB® Index race and an ITRA National Challenge event; the courses do not attract ITRA points. Drink stations will supply water and lollies and participants must bring their own drinking container. Medals are awarded to placegetters. Walkers are permitted on the short course only. A strict course cutoff is enforced and participants must remain ahead of course sweepers. Event parking requests car pooling and attendees may need to walk 15 or more minutes to the start. A free kids cross-country run is organised near the finish with a lead and tail runner; adults are preferred to accompany children. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
