Strides For Scholars 5K
The event is a 5K run that takes place in April in Union, Connecticut. The course is point to point, begins at Union Elementary School (18 Kinney Hollow Rd, Union, CT) and follows Kinney Hollow Rd through the Yale Forest for approximately 3.1 miles. The route is predominantly downhill with a total reported descent of 360 feet. Runners are transported back to the start by shuttle from the finish; there is no parking at the finish and parking is available on site at the school. All runners must take the shuttle after the race.
The event supports the Union School Association Scholarship Foundation. Scholarships have been awarded annually to graduating high school seniors since 1995. Donations to the scholarship fund are accepted via RunSignUp.
Race services and amenities listed for the event include a race T-shirt (registration by April 1 required to guarantee a shirt), division awards, custom race bibs, post-race refreshments, and professional chip timing. Bib pickup and race day registration are available on race morning. An award ceremony is held at the finish area after results are compiled.
