Downhill Run in Yale Forest
Strides For Scholars is a point-to-point running and walking event held in Union, Connecticut. The event features a single distance on a course primarily designed for speed and scenic views.
- 5 km run or walk
The 3.1 mile course begins at the Union Elementary School and proceeds down Kinney Hollow Road. The route travels through the Yale Forest and features a total descent of 360 feet. Due to the downhill nature of the path, the event is noted for being among the fastest courses in the state.
Participants gather at the Union Elementary School, where parking is available on-site. Because the race is a point-to-point event, a shuttle bus is provided at the finish line to transport participants back to the school. T-shirts are provided to the first 100 individuals who register by the April 1st deadline.
The event supports the Union School Association Scholarship Foundation. This organization has provided annual scholarships to graduating high school seniors since 1995.
