About the race
Strides Against Stigma - GCAP 5K Walk/Run is an annual community event in Urbana, Illinois taking place during Pride Fest on October 11, 2026. The event marks 41 years of regional work on community strength, health equity, and efforts to end HIV/AIDS in East Central Illinois.
The event features a 5K run/walk course. Participants may run, walk, roll, or stroll; registration revenue supports individuals and families living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS. Funds are used to provide housing, healthcare, food, transportation, and emergency support to people who rely on GCAP’s services.
A resource fair is part of the event and includes community organizations, wellness information, and activities. Morning refreshments and bagels are provided by local business Good Judy’s Espresso & Bagel Bar.
