Striders Trail 5
Striders Trail 5 is a five mile trail race hosted by St Helens Striders in Sankey Valley Park, Blackbrook, St Helens. The event is listed as the 2026 race and uses the Sankey Visitors Centre as the event base.
The course runs mainly on compact trail surfaces with some tarmac paths. Trail surfaces may be uneven, muddy or rocky; appropriate footwear and care on the route are advised. The park is open to the public and there are a few sections where cars may be present; these points will be marshalled. Marshals are positioned along the route to give directions and support.
Facilities at the Sankey Visitors Centre include limited parking and toilets. Race numbers are collected on the day. It may be possible to leave baggage in the Visitors Centre but items are left at the owner’s risk.
Water is provided at the finish as part of the finisher’s goody bag; there are no water stations along the route. All finishers receive a goody bag that includes a memento. Post-race food and drinks are available at The Ship Inn at the race start area. Prizes are presented in the Ship Inn for overall first to third male and female, and first place in age categories v40, v45, v50, v55, v60 and v65. Participants must be at least 15 years old on race day.
Results from previous years, including 2015 through 2025, are recorded for reference. Event entry is non refundable and number transfers are considered if requested at least two weeks before race day. Organisers may delay, cancel or suspend the race for safety or weather reasons.
