Strawberry Shortcake 5K at Switchyard Park
The Strawberry Shortcake 5K takes place in Bloomington, Indiana at Switchyard Park on Sunday, June 14, 2026. The event includes three options: Strawberry Shortcake 5K Run, Strawberry Shortcake 5K Walk, and Strawberry Shortcake VIRTUAL 5K. It is sponsored by the Auxiliary to the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington and supports the local Clubs.
Early packet pickup is scheduled at Binford Elementary on June 13 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Day of registration and packet pickup are available at Switchyard Park from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. T shirts are guaranteed only for participants who register before May 26; after that date shirts are distributed by available sizes.
For the first time the race will include a costume contest judged across all ages. The costume contest winner receives a gift basket from PopKorn - Kernals with a Twist. The course follows a loop through Switchyard Park, starting at the Pavilion, heading south toward Country Club Road, passing the playground and dog parks, turning at Country Club Road, continuing past Hopscotch Coffee, and finishing back at the Pavilion.
The event is part of the Magnificent 7 Race Series, a group of races in south central Indiana where completing a set number of events makes participants eligible for series awards. The annual Strawberry Shortcake Festival at Switchyard Park is scheduled separately in June and will serve pound cake with strawberries, whipped cream, and Bruster's vanilla ice cream.
