Course and logistics
The event uses a 10k loop course on Strawberry Island in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, in a recreation area managed by the Corps of Engineers. The loop runs through field, forest, and alongside the Columbia River on dirt and graveled trail. The loop has roughly 200 feet of elevation gain and 200 feet of elevation loss.
Aid is provided at one station that is reachable every 6.2 miles. Available aid items include peanut butter strawberry jam sandwiches, water, electrolyte, sports bars and pizza. The loop passes three bathrooms, with a short detour to a fourth. Participants may set up a tent at the park for gear changes or rest. The area offers nearby attractions such as Bonneville Dam, the Bonneville Fish Hatchery, waterfall hikes, hot springs, Beacon Rock, golf courses, brew pubs, frisbee golf and swimming.
