Straddie Salute : event overview
The Straddie Salute takes place over the weekend of 15–17 May 2026 with activities at Point Lookout Oval and Home Beach, and presentation and social events at Point Lookout Bowls Club and Straddie Brewing. The weekend program includes off-road and on-road triathlons, a trail run, ocean swim races, team entries, and youth events under the StraddieKidz banner. Distances offered include:
- 5 km trail run
- 10 km trail run
- 1000 m ocean swim
- 500 m ocean swim
The event features Straddie Salute (off-road) and Straddie Pure (on-road) triathlons, relay and "All In" team formats, StraddieKidz duathlon, triathlon and aquathlon, plus presentations and a farewell lunch.
Entry, rules and race operations
Official entries close 10 days before the event; late entries are offered until the Friday before the event unless sold out. A One Day Membership (ODM) is required for entrants without an annual AusTriathlon membership; one ODM covers a team entry when needed. The minimum participant age is 7 years. Age groups are determined by age on 31 December 2025 in five-year brackets.
Timing chips are issued for all triathlon participants and are to be worn on the left ankle; relay teams use a single chip passed between members. Wave start times are finalised in the week of the event. Wet suits are permitted only when water temperature is below 24.6 degrees and temperatures will be checked in advance. Helmets are compulsory for cycling, bikes must be in safe working condition and mountain bikes are allowed. Personal music devices are not permitted while racing. Withdrawal refunds and credits follow the published schedule based on how many days before the event the withdrawal is made. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
