The 10 mile route is described by the organisers as challenging and runs through rural Kilkenny scenery, crossing gentle valleys and country roads before reaching the crest of Stook Hill. The course includes a timed one mile segment called the Stook Flying Mile with timing mats at either end to provide a personal split for that mile. After the Flying Mile the route continues with downhill sections, a short uphill pull of about 200 metres, and a downhill finish.
The race has been organised since 2012 and attracts runners from a range of clubs in counties including Kilkenny, Carlow, Wexford, Waterford, Laois, Tipperary, Cork, Kildare, Dublin, Wicklow and Meath. The organisers report positive feedback about event organisation and the route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
