Stomping Down Barriers for Mental Health
The event takes place on August 9, 2026 in Strathmore, Alberta. It is organized by the Town of Strathmore and FCSS to raise awareness for mental health.
Available in-person and virtual distances include:
- 1 km Kids Fun Run
- 5 km
- 10 km
- Half marathon
- Virtual 5 km, Virtual 10 km, Virtual Half marathon
The 5 km follows the canal pathway to Kinsmen Park and back. The 10 km runs along the canal to Kinsmen Park and Gray's Park then returns. Sections shared with the 5 km route will feature splashes of colour and music; participants are encouraged to wear a white shirt. Additional colour packets are available for purchase in the event store. The half marathon course is described by organizers as flat and will pass through the colour portion of the 5 km.
Virtual runs may be completed any time before or on the in-person event day; the deadline to submit results is August 9, 2026.
A fundraising element is included: five Canadian dollars from every registration is directed to the Strathmore Elks Mental Health Project. Event partners include Running Room, Town of Strathmore, FCSS and Strathmore Elks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
