Stockholm Marathon
The Stockholm Marathon is an entry in the international running calendar, taking participants through the diverse scenery of the Swedish capital. The course covers a distance of 42,195 meters and includes various central districts.
The route starts at Östermalm and passes through Vasastan, Kungsholmen, and Södermalm. Runners pass landmarks such as the Stockholm City Hall, the Royal Palace in Gamla Stan (the Old Town), and the nature of Djurgården. The event concludes with a finish inside the historic Stockholm Stadium, which was built for the 1912 Olympic Games.
The event provides full service for participants, including:
- 42.195 km
- Water and sport drink stations along the route.
- Pacing service for goals ranging from 3:00 to 5:45.
- Energy supplies such as bananas, gels, coffee, and broth at selected stations.
- Medical assistance at the start, finish, and along the course.
- A finisher t-shirt and a medal for those who complete the distance.
The time limit for the marathon is 6 hours and 30 minutes. To ensure the safety of all participants, runners must meet specific cut-off times at four checkpoints along the course. The event follows the rules of the Swedish Athletics Association and World Athletics. Participation is open to runners born in 2009 or earlier.
