Stinger 5K
The Stinger 5K is a family friendly 5K run and walk hosted at the 180th Fighter Wing on the grounds of the Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport. The course starts and finishes at the 9/11 Memorial and runs past the fighter wing parking pads onto the Stinger tarmac, offering a route contained on the base.
The event enforces a strict 60 minute course limit. A course sweep bus will accompany the route to assist participants who fall behind pace. Participants who cannot finish within the time limit may choose a shorter distance walk to complete their mission within the allowed time.
Event options listed by the organizer include:
- 5K Run
- Stinger Walk
- Virtual 5K
- Kids Run
- Stroller or wagon entry
Packet pickup is available early at Dave's Running Perrysburg on the Friday before the race; race day pickup at the 180th Pavilion is reserved for 180th members. All civilian participants must pick up their packets on the designated early pickup day. Registrations are verified by scanning each participant QR code; participants may pick up packets for family members. Organizers note that an email with packet details is sent the week of the event and recommend using early packet pickup because there may be lines on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
