Event overview
The STINGER 5K AT THE 180TH is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the 180th Fighter Wing on the Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport in Swanton, Ohio. The event includes a route that starts and finishes at the 9/11 Memorial, runs past the fighter wing parking pads, and goes onto the Stinger tarmac. The main run is a 5K with a strict 60 minute course limit. Base and memorial access is available only for security-cleared registrants and volunteers.
Race details
The event program includes a 5K run, a Stinger walk, a virtual 5K, a 180th Fighter Wing kids run, and a stroller/wagon rider option. Registration opens April 1, 2026. Published entry prices include $30 for the STINGER 5K (rising after the first 250 registrations), $33 for the STINGER WALK (rising after the first 100 registrations), $20 for the VIRTUAL 5K, $10 for the kids run, and a free stroller/wagon rider entry. Age rules: the main 5K is open to ages 6 and older; the kids run is open to ages 2 to 11; stroller/wagon rider is for ages 5 and under.
Security requirements include a required criminal history/background check for nonmilitary attendees; adults must provide full name, date of birth, social security number, and a copy of a driver’s license or state ID. Prohibited items include jewelry (watches and wedding bands excepted), weighted vests, and firearms. Packet pickup is held in Perrysburg prior to race day.
