Sticks n' Stones Trail Race 2026
The event takes place at Christie Lake Conservation Area in Hamilton, Ontario on October 10, 2026. The race is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario.
All distances use a looped 5.3 km course around the lake. The route is rolling, fast, runnable, and mostly on dirt with a non-technical surface.
Distances offered:
- 5 km: one loop (actual 5.3 km)
- 10 km: two loops (actual 10.6 km)
- 26.5 km: five loops (actual 26.5 km)
- 53 km solo: ten loops (actual 53 km)
- 53 km relay: ten loops, teams up to five runners
There are two aid stations each loop, one at the loop midpoint and one at the start/finish area. Aid stations provide water, electrolyte drinks, pop, fruit, and sweet and salty snacks. A local nutrition company supplies gels in race kits and at aid stations; the gels contain maple syrup, tahini, sea salt, and rowanberry extract. The event is cup free so runners should bring a collapsible cup or bottle.
Race kits are distributed at the on-site Beach Pavilion. Participants in shorter distances and relay teams receive a toque; 53 km solo finishers receive a race hoodie. Parking for participants is included in registration; spectators pay park entry.
Pacers are generally not permitted; participants over 65 may have a pacer. Finishers receive medals, top solo finishers receive awards, and winning relay teams are recognized by category. Professional timing will be used and results posted. The event supports Oceana Canada and is held in memory of a relative of the race director.
