Sticks n' Stones Trail Race 2026
The event takes place on October 10, 2026 at Christie Lake Conservation Area in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The race is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario.
The course is a loop of 5.3 km around the lake. The surface is primarily dirt and non-technical; the route is described as rolling and runnable. Distances are based on multiple laps of the loop:
- 5.3 km one lap
- 10.6 km two laps
- 26.5 km five laps
- 53 km ten laps solo
- 53 km ten laps relay, teams up to 5 runners
There are two aid stations per loop, one near midloop and one at the start/finish area. Aid stations provide water, electrolyte drinks, soda, fruit, sweet and salty snacks, PB&J and gels supplied by a local nutrition partner. The event is cup-less; participants must bring a collapsible cup or bottle.
Race kit pick-up is held on race day at the Beach Pavilion on site. Participants in the shorter distances and relay receive a toque; solo 53 km participants receive a hoodie. Hoodies can be purchased by other participants at registration for a fee; the 2026 hoodie will differ from past samples.
Registration includes parking; spectators pay park entry. Pacers are generally not permitted; exceptions exist for participants over 65 and for safety reasons after prior contact with the organizer. Finishers receive a medal; top solo finishers and top relay teams receive awards. Professional timing is provided and results will be posted after the race.
The event supports Oceana Canada and is held in memory of a relative of the race director. A footwear partner will be present with demos and giveaways. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
