Stevenage Half Marathon
The Stevenage Half Marathon began in 1984 and is held annually in October, with a full marathon staged every ten years; the next full marathon is due in 2034. The 2026 event is scheduled for 18 October 2026 and has its race headquarters at Hampson Park Community Centre.
The half marathon route comprises two laps that pass through Fairlands Valley Park and parts of the town centre before returning to the start area. The course is completely road or cycle path based, so there are no muddy sections, and it is fully signposted and marshalled along the 13.1 mile distance. The course has been officially measured and the event hosts the Hertfordshire Road Running Half Marathon veteran championships for those born in Hertfordshire or resident for the previous nine months.
The event is licenced by England Athletics and results appear on Power of 10. It operates as a charity fundraiser supported by volunteers from Fairlands Valley Spartans Running Club and Stevenage Scouts. All proceeds go to local charities; the last three events provided in excess of £35,000 in donations. Each year the organisers nominate a beneficiary charity and the chosen charity for 2026 is Ehlers Danlos UK. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
