Event
Steps for Stegman is a community 5K walk/run hosted by Jardine Elementary in Topeka. The event is held in honor and support of the school’s instructional coach, who was diagnosed with ALS. Proceeds will go to the ALS Association, Mid-America Chapter. Over four years the event has raised $19,850. The 5K course goes through the neighborhood around Jardine Elementary.

Location and registration
The event location is 2600 SW 33rd St, Topeka, KS 66611. Parking is available in the west and south parking lots, and the event starts on the east side of the building. Registration options include an in-person 5K with and without a shirt, a virtual 5K, a 1 mile fun run with and without a shirt, and a shirt-only option. Entry fees range from $15 to $30; the shirt-only fee is $18. Some race entries have registration deadlines in early April 2026, while other options remain open through May 1, 2026. Registrants who complete registration by early April are eligible to receive an event T-shirt. Proceeds and donations are accepted separately for those who wish to contribute without participating.
