Steep Ultra 2026 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador

Steep Ultra offers three event distances for 2026:

  • 100 km
  • 50 km
  • 50 km Relay

The route passes Marble Mountain, Man in the Mountain, Wild Cove, Humber Village, Massey Drive and finishes at Margaret Bowater Park. Terrain includes remote single track, mountain biking trails, service roads and community trail sections. Some climbs are steep; for example one ascent gains about 400 m in 2.5 km to the Man in the Mountain summit. The course includes mandatory out-and-back sections at the Man in the Mountain lookout and at the Doppler summit.

There are five aid stations in total. The 50 km uses four of them: Wild Cove, Humber Village, Marble Mountain and Massey Drive. The 100 km visits these stations multiple times and includes the Man in the Mountain turn. Aid stations provide fluids and to-go snacks; coffee is noted at Marble Mountain and Massey Drive. Drop bags are permitted at designated stations, including Marble Mountain and Humber Village, and at the finish depending on distance.

The event is run as a self-supported race. Mandatory gear required at check-in and on course includes a headlamp, a hooded jacket, a cell phone and a mapping app with the race GPX file downloaded. Weather in western Newfoundland can change quickly so runners should prepare for wide temperature ranges and strong wind. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
