Event Overview
The Stasny Road Racing 5K Prediction Race is a running event held in Austinburg, Ohio. This event revives a format from Ashtabula County's history.
Event Format
The event is a 5K prediction race. During registration, participants must enter an estimated finish time as their official prediction. The goal is to finish the 5K with an actual time as close as possible to that prediction without using any timing aids. Awards are given to the top five runners whose finish times are closest to their predicted times.
Rules and Scoring
All participants must provide their official prediction in the "Estimated Finishing Time" section during registration. The use of any timing or distance-measuring devices is prohibited. This includes watches, GPS units, stopwatches, phones, headphones, earbuds, and music players. Using such devices will result in disqualification from award eligibility, and no refunds will be issued in this case.
The official time starts when a runner crosses the starting line and ends at the finish line. Chip timing is used for scoring. The official results are based on Chronotrack Systems scoring, using times rounded down to the full second. Tie breakers are determined by a higher overall finishing position.
Registration and Details
The event is scheduled for a Sunday in April. The registration fee increases over time, with a final price on race day. The first 50 registrants receive a Stasny Road Racing item (TBA). The event is located at 2591 Lampson Rd in Austinburg. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
