Event Overview
The Starr Spangled 5K Race & Walk is an annual event on July 4th, marking its 32nd annual edition. The event offers a 5K road race and walk, available in both in-person and virtual formats.
Course Details
The in-person event takes place at Starr Elementary School at 3230 Starr Avenue in Oregon, Ohio. The course is an out-and-back route that starts and finishes at the school. It is described as flat, fast, and accurately measured for a 5K distance. One water station is provided on the course.
Registration & Participant Information
Registration for both the in-person and virtual events opens on May 12, 2026. The listed price for each event is $20. Preregistered participants by Friday, June 19, 2026, can choose between a triblend t-shirt or a beach towel. Availability of these items after the cutoff date is very limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis, including on race day.
Awards & Prizes
Awards are given across multiple categories:
- Overall male and female winners.
- Overall Master (40+) male and female winners.
- Overall Grand Master (50+) male and female winners.
- Age group awards, at least three deep in each category, ranging from 9 & under to 80 & older.
Winners in the overall, master, and grand master categories receive gift certificates. Additionally, every 25th finisher wins a $25 Second Sole gift certificate. Refreshments are provided at the finish line.
Additional Activities
A special "Boom Challenge" is offered for participants who finish both the Starr Spangled 5K and the Woodville 4th of July 5K, awarding a special prize.
