The 25th Stansted Stagger
The event on Sunday 3 January 2027 is a 25 mile route based at St Johns Church Hall, Memorial Gardens, Chapel Hill, Stansted Mountfichet CM24 8JP (GR TL 512250). The course is a new punctured figure of eight that crosses the River Stort by the medieval village of Manuden, has its centre at Albury, and reaches its farthest point at the iron age village of Braughing.
There are two indoor checkpoints at 14 and 21 miles and a drinks and snacks table at 9 miles. Costs include hot and cold drinks at the start, snacks and sandwiches at checkpoints, and a meal at the finish. All finishers receive a certificate.
Entry is limited to 180 participants. Entries open 2 September 2026 and close 27 December 2026 or earlier if the limit is reached. Entry fees are £15 for LDWA members and £25 for non members. Entries are not transferable and there are no entries on the day. No refunds after 27 December 2026 unless the event is cancelled. The minimum age is 16; under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. At the time of listing there are 121 participants entered.
