St. Ibar's/Shelmaliers 6k Run/Walk
The St. Ibar's/Shelmaliers Camogie Club hosts its annual 6 km event, titled "A Race for Grace," at the Hollymount GAA Complex in Wexford. This community event is open to athletes, fun runners, joggers, walkers, and families. The event serves as a fundraiser, with proceeds supporting the St. Ibar's/Shelmaliers Camogie Club and the Dillon Quirke Foundation.
The Dillon Quirke Foundation focuses on protecting young athletes from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) through a national cardiac screening programme. This year's event is dedicated to the memory of Grace Mahon, a member of the club's U12 camogie team.
Participants can expect a professional race experience with several organized features:
- 6 km run or walk
- Chipped timing for accurate results
- Refreshments available for all participants after the event
- Prizes for the first and second male and female finishers
- Various spot prizes distributed on the day
The race starts and finishes at the Shelmalier GAA Grounds (Hollymount GAA Complex). The route and atmosphere are designed to accommodate a wide range of participants, from competitive runners to families walking together. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
