The trail is technical in places with varied surfaces including fire-track, forest-track, single-track, mud, puddles, riverbed, rocks and roots. There is a steep technical rocky descent near the finish followed by a 500 m downhill fire-trail to the finish. Start and finish are at the Three Rocks trail head. Car parking at the start/finish is limited; an alternative car park is located about 2 km north at the Forth Mountain hike car park. Prizegiving takes place at the trail head start area.
Mandatory kit is Level B - Standard and must be carried: waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag equivalent. The specific kit to be carried may be finalised on the day. Random kit checks may be carried out and lack of required items can lead to entry denial or disqualification.
