S.S.H.E.D. 5K Walk/Run
The S.S.H.E.D. 5K Walk/Run takes place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, in South Shore, Chicago. The meeting point and the race start and finish are at 79th and Cornell.
The event is organized to support health initiatives and economic growth in the neighborhood. Organizers work with the South Shore Chamber of Commerce to support local small businesses and to create job opportunities. Community partners include Chicago Police Community Policing and Southeast Chicago Development Corp.
The course is a loop that begins and ends at 79th and Cornell. The route follows 79th east to Constance, proceeds south to 81st with a return to 79th, continues east to Bennett and south to South Chicago, then east to Euclid and north to 79th, east to Paxton with a return to Euclid, north to 77th, west to Bennett, and back to 79th and Cornell.
Registration opens April 3, 2026 and closes September 17, 2026 Central time. Early bird registration runs through July 31, 2026 at $25; standard registration is $30. Online registration is limited to up to 500 participants. Volunteer sign-up and corporate sponsorship options are available.
