SSgt Jason Hicks Memorial 5K : Pageland, SC
The event is a community 5K held at the Pageland Community Center, 1113 West McGregor Street, Pageland, SC 29728. All proceeds benefit the SSgt Jason Hicks Memorial Scholarship Fund, which annually awards a scholarship to a graduating senior from Central High School in Pageland. Applicants are expected to demonstrate leadership and community service, and a scholarship application for the current school year can be printed.
Event features include post-race festivities with a BBQ chicken lunch; non-racers may purchase a meal ticket for $15. Shirts are available for purchase for an additional $20 and come in youth sizes Small, Medium, Large and adult sizes Small through 2XL. Packet pickup at the Pageland Community Center begins the morning of the 5K and includes the race number, a purchased shirt, an admission ticket to the post-race lunch, and other event items.
Awards are based on gun time and include 1st through 3rd overall male and female, plus 1st male and female in each age group. Age groups are 13 & under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Registration fees for ages 4 and up range from $25 to $35, with a higher day-of-race fee.
