Momentus Back Yard Ultra
Momentus Back Yard Ultra is held on private farmland near Monroe, North Carolina. The event offers two options on a 4.167 mile loop at the Williams Rushing Farm: a repeated-loop last-runner-standing format and a single-loop community option. Entry fees listed are $115 for the Back Yard Ultra and $55 for the Celebrity Loop.
- Momentus Back Yard Ultra: repeated 4.167 mile loop every hour until one runner remains.
- Momentus Celebrity Loop: single 4.167 mile loop for running, rucking, jogging, or walking.
The course is described as intermediate difficulty with mostly hard-packed dirt, roots, rocks, a small gravel section, and short manicured grass. Each lap includes about 100 feet of elevation gain. The setting is a private farm with natural surroundings.
Race operations are self-supported; no staff aid stations are provided and personal support crews on the trail are not permitted. Crews and spectators are allowed in designated areas but on-site parking is limited: each runner may bring one approved on-site vehicle that fits a standard parking space. No RVs, motorhomes, oversized vans, or trailers are allowed in the on-site lot. Additional vehicles will be directed to satellite parking.
Other event details include music played throughout the race with a shared Spotify playlist, permitted contained fires and grills in the village area, and camping allowed in a designated area during the race until the final runner stops. For safety, any runner who begins Lap 8 must have a designated driver to leave the premises. The closest airport is Charlotte International Airport. Registration closes Sat, May 30 at 11:59 PM ET.
Previous editions reported last-runner totals of 62.5 miles in 2024 and 83 miles in 2025; organizers noted interest in pursuing longer totals in 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
