Race formats
- 4.167 miles - Back Yard Ultra loop repeated each hour until only one runner remains. Entry fee listed as $105.
- 4.167 miles - Celebrity Fun Run single loop. Entry fee listed as $55.
The Back Yard Ultra uses the official format of completing the loop every hour, on the hour, until one runner is left. The Fun Run is a single loop that may be run, rucked, jogged, or walked.
Course and logistics
The event takes place on private farmland in Monroe, NC. The trail is described as intermediate difficulty with mostly packed dirt, some roots and rocks, a small gravel section, and areas of manicured grass. Each lap has approximately 100 feet of elevation gain. Previous events reached about 62.5 miles in 2024 and about 83 miles in 2025.
The event is self-supported on course with no staff aid; no support crew are allowed on the trail. Each runner may have up to two accompanying crew members in the village area. Camping is allowed in a designated farm area during the race; attendees are not allowed on the farm grounds before the stated early-morning time. Contained fires and grills are allowed in the village; open fires are not permitted. Music will play throughout the race and registrants can add tracks to the event playlist.
