Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence Ultramarathon - Christchurch
The event is an ultramarathon held at Hagley Park North in Christchurch offering individual and team 100 km and a 50 km race on a certified loop course. The course is a World Athletics / AIMS certified 2.5 km asphalt loop with lap counters and a visible scoreboard updated after the first hour. Aid stations in the race village provide water, PURE electrolyte drink, food and snacks. Competitors may set up personal nutrition and hydration gear beside the course in the race village.
The 100 km individual race is an IAU Bronze Label event and incorporates the Athletics New Zealand 100 km National Championships; entry into the championship requires registration through an Athletics New Zealand-affiliated club or the ANZ one-day membership option, and Athletics New Zealand charges an additional fee for championship entries. The 100 km teams race is a 4-person open relay: each member must be aged 17 or over and complete a continuous 25 km leg before tagging the next runner. Pacing by vehicles, cyclists, or non-entered runners is not permitted; support crews may hand over nutrition but must not run a full lap with an athlete.
Awards include Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team trophies for top finishers and Athletics New Zealand medals for championship-eligible athletes. Results and photos are posted online after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
