Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence Ultramarathon - Hagley Park North, Christchurch
The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team stages the 19th Self-Transcendence Ultramarathon at Hagley Park North on 1 November. The event offers multiple race formats:
- 100 km individual
- 50 km individual
- 100 km teams (four person relay, each member completes 25 km continuously)
Races are held on a World Athletics / AIMS certified 2.5 km asphalt loop. The course is flat and uses lap counters for all athletes, with a public scoreboard updated after the first hour. An aid station in the race village supplies food, snacks, water and PURE electrolyte drink. Competitors may set up equipment and supporter gear beside the course in the race village area.
The 100 km event is an IAU Bronze Label race and incorporates the Athletics New Zealand National 100 km Championships. To be eligible for ANZ championship titles, athletes must be registered with an Athletics New Zealand affiliated club or select the ANZ one-day membership option (the one-day option can be used only once for any out-of-stadia championship event). Athletics New Zealand charges an additional fee for championship entries.
Race rules specify no pacing by vehicles, cyclists or non-entered runners; support crew may hand over nutrition but must not complete a full lap with an athlete. All races are open with trophies for top finishers, ANZ medals for eligible championship placings, a team trophy for first place, and personalised certificates for participants. Results and photos are posted online after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
