Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence Ultramarathon : Hagley Park North, Christchurch
The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team stages a loop road ultramarathon at Hagley Park North with races over 100 km and 50 km, plus a 100 km teams race. The course is a certified 2.5 km asphalt loop that is described as flat, with lap counting in place and a publicly visible scoreboard updated after the first hour.
Aid stations are located in the race village and provide food, snacks, water and PURE electrolyte drink. Competitors may set up personal equipment and supporter gear such as tents and tables beside the course in the race village area. Lap counters record individual and team laps. Photos and official results are posted online after the event and photos can be downloaded free of charge.
Championship status and entry conditions are noted for the 100 km event which is an IAU Bronze Label event and incorporates the Athletics New Zealand 100 km national championships. To be eligible for ANZ championship titles, athletes must be registered through an Athletics New Zealand affiliated club or select the ANZ one day membership option; additional fees apply and the one day membership may be limited to a single use for out of stadia championships.
Race rules require race numbers to be visible at the front of the athlete at all times. Vehicle or cyclist pacing and pacing by non entered runners is not permitted. Teams are four person open teams with each member completing 25 km continuously before tagging the next runner under the start finish banner.
