Sri Chinmoy Half-Marathon, 5 and 2 Miles : Canberra
The Canberra Sri Chinmoy event is staged annually on a certified one mile loop through Lennox Gardens beside Lake Burley Griffin. It offers three distances and uses a measured, well marked cycle path and road course.
Key event features include electronic timing for every one mile lap, an aid station every mile, and full category results with lap split times published the same day. The event provides trophies or medals for age group placegetters and a post-race breakfast for participants. The 5 mile and 2 mile races are traditional imperial distances that are now uncommon in Australia.
Practical notes from past editions mention winter conditions in Canberra can be cold at the start, so runners often wear gloves and a beanie. The race has an established history of more than 35 years and keeps course records and results for recent years.
