The Squatchy Leftovers is a trail race on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at South Mountain Reservation, 374 Walker Road, West Orange, NJ. Distances offered include:
- 50K - 10 loops
- 25K - 5 loops
- 10K - 2 loops
- 5K - 1 loop
- 1 Mile Kids Run
The event uses a single 5K loop for all distances. Charity bibs are available; selecting a charity bib requires raising or donating $350 to the event charity partner by November 26. The organizer partners with Bigger Than The Trail, a nonprofit that provides cost-free therapy.
Course and logistics
The 5K loop has about 289 ft of elevation gain. The route mixes wide carriage roads (dirt or gravel) and technical singletrack with rocks and roots. Notable features listed: a very rocky 0.5-mile descent near mile one, a 100 ft climb near mile 2.5, and a final mile of singletrack with rocks and roots. Portapottys are available near the start/finish and within walking distance of the trailhead. All participants receive a handcrafted wooden medal and a finishers' item. Trekking poles are allowed and pacers/guides are permitted for participants over 60 and athletes with disabilities. The course will close at sunset.
