Event Information
Square Lake 70.3 is a half-distance triathlon held at Square Lake Park in Stillwater, Minnesota. The event serves as the final long-distance triathlon of the triathlon season. The park is noted for its pristine lake and location in the Stillwater horse country.
Race Options
Participants can choose from several formats:
- 70.3: A 1.2-mile swim, 57-mile bike, and 13.1-mile run.
- Aqua: A 1.2-mile swim and 57-mile bike, with no run.
- All race options can be completed as a relay team.
Course Details
The swim takes place in the lake. The bike course is described as two loops on quiet, hilly roads. Bottle exchanges are available approximately every 13 miles on the bike leg. The run course is an out-and-back route that is shaded. Aid stations on the run are located roughly every 1.5 miles and provide Hammer electrolytes and gels, Coca-Cola, oranges, and bananas.
Event Logistics
The event features a self-seeded, time-trial swim start. A post-race barbecue is provided. Professional photography is available at no extra cost to participants. Awards are given to the top overall male and female athletes and the top three in each age group. Parking at the park requires a $7 day pass and is not included in the registration fee.
