2026 Springfield Dam Run
The Edgar May Health and Recreation Center presents the Springfield Dam Run on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Army Corps of Engineers property at the Springfield Dam in Springfield, VT. The event combines multiple running options and a Family Fun Zone located near 140 Clinton St.
Distances and event formats
- Kids Half Mile: free for youth under 12; raffle entry for a youth mountain bike.
- Maniac Mile: one mile sprint for ages 10 and older.
- Dam Run 5K: scenic 5K on Army Corps property at Springfield Dam.
The Kids Half Mile is a closed trail run for participants age 12 and under and is free. Any child who participates in any race is entered into a raffle for a youth mountain bike. The Maniac Mile is a one-mile sprint for ages 10 and older and lists an entry fee of $20; cash prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers. The Dam Run 5K is open to all ages, lists an entry fee of $30, and follows a course that mixes trails and dirt road with slight elevation gain and fast downhills; walkers and families with strollers are welcome. The course features late summer views of Mt. Ascutney. A combined entry for both the Dam Run and the Maniac Mile includes a $10 discount when the coupon code DAMMANIAC is applied.
The Family Fun Zone will include a mobile axe throwing unit by Keene Axe House, face painting by Mona Frye, ice cream for sale by JC’s Market, food, and other activities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
