Sportspectrum Firecracker 5k Race for Research
The Sportspectrum Firecracker event is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2026, in Shreveport, Louisiana, at the Mall St. Vincent parking lot behind Sears. The event program includes a 5K road race and a kids 1/2 mile fun run. Packet pickup is available in the days preceding the race at Sportspectrum, 6970 Fern Avenue, with specific dates and times provided by the organizer.

Entry fees vary by date. The 5K has tiered fees with lower early registration rates, higher preregistration rates, and a race day fee. The kids fun run has its own fee schedule. Participants may opt out of receiving an additional race shirt to reduce the registration cost by $5. Race shirts are offered as a short sleeve tee or an adult tank top; unclaimed shirts will not be mailed and will be given to volunteers.
Awards include overall male and female prizes, runner-up prizes, and a total purse announced by the organizer. There is a $500 bonus for beating the course record. The first set numbers of male and female finishers will receive commemorative mugs and finishers medals are awarded to all kids in the fun run. No age group trophies are awarded.
The 5K course starts and finishes at Mall St. Vincent parking lot and proceeds through the historic South Highland Subdivision. Strollers and baby joggers are allowed at walking pace only.
