Solidarity Sidekick Down Route 66 - Stop 1: Chicago 6.6K
August 29, 2026 at Addams (Jane) Memorial Park, 550 E Grand Ave, Chicago, IL 60611. This event is the kickoff of the Solidarity Sidekick Down Route 66 series and combines community activities with Route 66 history and a long-distance awareness run for ALS.
The weekend program includes a kickoff party, packet pickup on race morning, speakers, a youth Kids Dash for ages 3 to 12, the main 6.6K run, and post-race refreshments and raffle. The Kids Dash is free for registered children and all signed-up participants receive a certificate of completion; optional youth shirts are available for purchase and adult shirts are available until August 15, 2026.
Registered runners receive an event-specific Stop 1 race shirt, a custom Stop 1 bib, a finisher medal, a swag bag with refreshments and items, entry into the Spirits Run raffle, official timing, and posted results. Late registrants may receive certain charms by mail rather than on site.
The course will have two staffed water stations and fallback water bottle placements near the 1.5 mile and 3 mile marks if volunteers are unavailable. There is no time limit to complete the run. Race-day packet pickup may be completed by another person on behalf of a registrant. Street parking and nearby paid garages are available in the surrounding area.
