Spirits Run for ALS : Chicago Route 66 Stop 1
This event is the Chicago kickoff of the Spirits Run for ALS Illinois series, presented as a noncompetitive community 6.6K. The route runs from Addams (Jane) Memorial Park to the historic Route 66 "Begin" sign at Adams and Michigan, showcasing the lakefront and downtown landmarks along the way.
Participants stay on sidewalks, pedestrian paths, and marked crosswalks; streets will not be closed as part of the standard plan. Volunteers are scheduled to assist with wayfinding and participant safety, with additional safety measures considered if community turnout is strong. The Chicago leg serves as the symbolic start of a 301-mile Illinois journey to raise awareness and funds for ALS research and advocacy.
Location details are provided for the Chicago stop: 550 E Grand Ave, Chicago, IL 60611. The event is described as community focused and open to runners, walkers, families, and supporters, with an emphasis on public paths and visible landmarks rather than closed-course racing conditions.
